Leuven, Belgium / Boston, US – January 21, 2021 - icometrix announced today that Lake Medical Imaging has selected the icobrain software to guide their radiologists in the use of clinically relevant and robust measurements of brain structures, to better assess brain atrophy resulting from multiple sclerosis and dementia. Lake Medical Imaging is the first imaging center in Central Florida to implement icobrain

Florida-based Lake Medical Imaging is a full-service radiology practice specializing and fully accredited in MRI, CT, PET/CT, Women’s Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology. Lake Medical Imaging will use icobrain to perform analyses, such as percentage of brain volume change per year compared to the previous year’s MRI scan and correct for age and sex; ensuring reliable measurements for use in clinical practice.

Used in conjunction with MRI of the brain, icobrain helps the radiologists confidently incorporate brain atrophy into clinical reports for the patient’s physician to track disease progression in patients with neurological disorders, and helps make more informed decisions for treatment.

LMI radiologist Dr. Cathrine Keller commented, "Using icobrain is an enhancement for evaluating patients with cognitive impairment because it eliminates the variability of qualitative evaluation amongst different radiologists and is both quantitative and reproducible.  The neurologists are very happy to have this data and the pictograms to share with their patients. Our radiologists utilize this innovative software, in conjunction with MRI of the brain, to measure and track disease progression in patients with cognitive impairment, dementia or multiple sclerosis. icobrain plays an important role in Lake Medical Imaging’s ongoing commitment to assist patients with some neurological disorders and empower their physicians to proceed with appropriate treatment."
